32nd Judicial District Investigators have seized over $800,000, several vehicles and pounds of methamphetamines over the course of the last few weeks off I-20. Get the details in this week's Record.

The Lady Wolves will play Peaster at Cisco High School at 7:30 pm on Friday in the area round of the playoffs. The Wolves will take on Coleman in Merkel on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:00 pm for the bi-district title.

FCCLA students qualify for state

fccla picColorado High School’s FCCLA students attended the Region 2 FCCLA Conference in Waco last weekend. The theme of the conference was “Rise. Lead. Succeed.” Part of the conference is a contest, and several CHS students competed.
The following students will advance to the state competition in Dallas on April 5th -9th.
Caleb Chaney placed 1st in Leadership, and Esmeralda Carlos placed 1st in Teach and Train. Amor Carrillo placed 1st in Interpersonal Communication.
Placing 2nd were Lilly Parras and Dillon Adkins in Life Event Planning. Anessa Hulme and Muranda Garcia placed 4th in National Programs in Action. M’Leah Alexander and Jisell Ventura placed 5th in Focus on Children.
Other FCCA members competing were: Kaytlin Sims, Diana Santiago, Sara Barrera, Kimmy Ventura and Malishia Payne.

Westbrook dance planned

wisd students of monthThe junior class at Westbrook ISD will hold a Valentine’s Day dance to help raise funds for the class. There will be more than dancing, and everyone is welcome to attend.
The dance is planned for Friday, February 10th from 9 p.m. to midnight in the school cafeteria. Admission is $5 per person, and all proceeds benefit the junior class.
There will be dancing, games and a small concession stand that will be selling drinks, candy and some desserts. There will also be a photo booth to capture special memories with friends and family.
Show your valentine a good time, while you both have a little fun! Come out and support the junior class.

Munoz makes honor list at A&M

wolf head - jpegTexas A&M University has named its honor students for the fall semester, recognizing them for outstanding academic performance. Brittany Muñoz of Loraine is among those being recognized.
Muñoz is a sophomore at TAMU and is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She has made the Dean’s Honor Roll. She is a 2016 graduate of Colorado High School and is the daughter of Richard and Michelle Muñoz.
The Dean’s Honor Roll recognizes students taking at least 15 semester hours during the fall semester who have maintained a 3.75 or higher grade point (GPR) out of a possible 4.0.

Powerlifting meet to be held Saturday

powerlifting picThe Colorado High School Gym will be the location of a powerlifting meet on Saturday, January 21st, and lifting is set to begin at 9 a.m. that morning. According to powerlifting coach Bradly Graham, Colorado City will be represented by eight girls and 12 boys who will be competing in the meet.
Several schools will attend, including Big Spring, Snyder, Forsan, Coahoma, Greenwood, Midland Lee, Midland Classical, Hawley and Roby, along with Colorado City.
C-City lifters prepared for the upcoming meet by competing in Snyder last Thursday.
Courtney Wooddell took 1st place in the 97-lb class, Audrey Beltran placed 2nd in the 105-lb class and Kimmy Ventura took 2nd in the 198-lb class. Nia Williams placed 3rd in the 123-lb class.
As a team, the Lady Wolves placed 4th out of 12 schools.
Justin Trawick was the only Wolf to compete in Snyder, and he took 1st place in the 275-lb class.
The Wolves traveled to Big Spring on Saturday to compete in a meet there.
David Ornelas placed 2nd in the 275-lb class, and Avian Hernandez took 3rd in the Super Heavy Weight (SHW) class. Ted Rich placed 4th in SHW. Johnathan Rankin bombed out on bench in the 148-lb class.
As a team, the Wolves placed 7th out of 10 teams.
